Day 1: Balmaceda Airport – Coyhaique (40 km/25mi)
Pick up your car at the office in Balmaceda airport. The dry Pampa will gradually give way to the green forests of the Carretera Austral as you approach Coyhaique, capital of the XI Region. Overnight in Coyhaique.

Day 2: Coyhaique – Puerto Ibáñez – Chile Chico (114 km / 71 mi)
Drive south to Puerto Ibáñez, located on the shores of Lake General Carrera, the second largest lake in South America. You will leave Puerto Ibáñez on a ferry and enjoy the 2½-hour navigation across the Lake General Carrera to Chile Chico, a small town on the border with Argentina. Overnight in Chile Chico. (B)

Day 3: Chile Chico – Puerto Guadal (110 km / 68 mi)
A beautiful drive of 125 km from Chile Chico to Puerto Gaudal will await you; over a sinuous road along the shores of Lake General Carrera, you will enjoy spectacular views, even to the San Valentin Icefield to the west. Further down the road, you will stay overnight close to Puerto Guadal. (B)

Day 4: Lake General Carrera
You will have time to discover the surroundings of Puerto Guadal. We suggest visiting the Marble Cathedral (by boat from Puerto Rio Tranquilo or from Puerto

Bahía EL Marmol). Overnight close to Puerto Guadal. (B)

Day 5: Puerto Guadal – Cochrane (80 km / 50 mi)
After driving to Cochrane, you will check into your hotel. In the afternoon you will be able to drive south to discover the most southern part of the Carretera Austral, for example, or make an excursion to the town of Tortel; it was completely built on wooden pillars above the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Overnight in Cochrane. (B)

Day 6: Cochrane – Coyhaique (320 km / 199 mi)
Drive back to Coyhaique along the Carretera Austral with its spectacular scenery. You will pass the magnificent Lake General Carrera once more. Disembark your car at the various viewpoints all along the way; in Cerro Castillo you should not miss out on a visit to the caves with prehistoric paintings. Overnight in Coyhaique. (B)

Day 7: Coyhaique – Balmaceda (40 km / 25 mi)
Drive back to the airport of Balmaceda to drop off the car and board your connecting flight. (B)
