This beautiful hacienda is situated deep in the foothills of the Andes, in the Hurtado Valley at 70 km / 41 mi from the city of Ovalle and 130 km / 82 mi from La Serena to be exact. The Hurtado Valley kept its traditions, villages, lifestyles, and local traditions untouched from some influences of our day and time. The Rio Hurtado River has been rushing through the valley for ages and passes through the Hacienda for a couple of kilometers. The largest part of the hacienda is a natural reserve that offers several trails for hiking, walking, and horseback riding.

Day 1: La Serena - Hacienda Los Andes
Transfer to the hacienda from La Serena (airport), Ovalle or Vicuņa. In the afternoon you can enjoy a hike along one of the trails of the hacienda. Before dinner, you will have time for a hot bath in the Jacuzzi overlooking the valley. Overnight at the Hacienda. (D)

Day 2 & 3: Hacienda Los Andes
During these two days on the hacienda you can choose from the following excursions:

Horseback Riding: Ride a horse into the untouched mountain landscape of the Andes. The horses are trained for non-riders as well. Seated atop such a fine animal you will feel as though you could conquer the Sierra of the Andes during this half day trip on a comfortable Huaso-saddle. The clear mountain air allows views of more than 200 kilometers / 120 miles.

Pichasca Forest: An alternative is a visit to the fossilized forest in the lower Hurtado Valley. During this excursion you will also visits some of the neighboring villages, historical places where the local people are still curious about the "gringos" that pass by and take their time to get to know you and show their local traditions.

Four wheel drive trip: On this full day trip we will drive in a 4 X 4 vehicle into the high Andes; visiting isolated mountain villages, weavers, and hermitages and passing through deserted mountain landscapes.

Hiking: From the hacienda you can start on good hiking trails; one of the more interesting ones leads us through the "Quebrada Vina" Canyon up to a beautiful little oasis. On the way, we will pass an ancient Indian place of ceremony where we will be able to learn a bit more about the culture of the Diaguita Indians. In the afternoons and before dinner you can enjoy the Jacuzzi. Overnight at the Hacienda. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Hacienda Los Andes - La Serena
After breakfast, you will have time to enjoy the hacienda and the surrounding nature reserve. Depending on the place and hour of your connecting flight, we will drive you to La Serena, Ovalle or Vicuņa. (B)
