Day 1: Temuco - Pucón
Upon arrival at Temuco, your guide will await you and drive you to the city of Pucón on Lake Villarrica. On the way you will make a short stop at the historical city of Villarrica, one of the first Spanish settlements in Chile. From Villarrica a drive along the lake of the same name will take you to the base of the imposing and active Villarrica Volcano. Up on the slopes of the volcano you will be able to visit deep volcanic caves that were formed when lava cut its way into the rock. The solid lava rocks inside the caves are of unusual shapes and will inspire your imagination; before you are taken to Pucón in the afternoon. This small cozy town, set in a fantastic scenery and founded by German immigrants, is a great starting point for a wide range of outdoor activities. Overnight stay in or close to Pucón.

Day 2: Lago Caburga & Hot Springs
After breakfast your guide will take you to Lake Caburgua, a small mountain lake with a splendid wide beach and view to active volcanoes. From here you visit the nearby "Ojos del Caburga", crystal clear waterfalls that are formed by underground rivers. The colors are especially impressive on a sunny day; it is a great spot for picnics and a dip in the water. In the afternoon you will head to the valley of the Liucura River, which is famous for its thermal waters and hot springs. You will visit one of the attractive hot springs and be able to enjoy a relaxing bath before returning to Pucón in the afternoon.Overnight in or close to Pucón. (B)

Day 3: Huerquehue National Park
After a good breakfast a beautiful hike in one of the surrounding national parks, Huerquehue, awaits you. This half-day hike along a gradually ascending trail takes you through the different layers of the Valdivian rainforest to reach the impressive "amphitheater" of thousands of Araucaria trees (Monkey Puzzle tree) at 1,200 meters / 3,940 feet above sea level. Once you arrive at the "theater," you will walk past three crystal clear lakes. Here you can rest, enjoy your picnic and have time for a refreshing swim in the purest water on earth. In the afternoon you will drive back to your hotel. Overnight stay in or close to Pucón. (B,BL)

Day 4: Pucón - Temuco
After breakfast you will drive back to the airport of Temuco to board your connecting flight. (B)


Day 1: Temuco - Malacahuello
Upon arrival in Temuco, a transfer will take you in a comfortable minibus to the Curacautín Region. On your way you will be able to see the waterfall Salto de la Princesa before you arrive at your hotel, your home for the next 3 nights. You will receive a welcome drink and have time to settle in; you will also have a chance to explore the surroundings of the hotel. (D)

Day 2: Tolhuaca National Park
In the morning you will depart from the hotel after breakfast to drive to the Tolhuaca National Park. At a 72 km / 45 mi distance from the hotel, the park contains typical mixed woods made up of bamboo, southern beech tree and Monkey Puzzle tree. You will participate in a 1 ½-hour walk to the beautiful Laguna Verde, an ideal spot for your picnic lunch. You will then return to the vehicle and drive to the Laguna Malleco for another 2-hour hike. On a level path through the woods, you will reach the magnificent Malleco Waterfall which is 50 m / 164 ft high. You will return to the vehicle afterwards to drive to the nearby hot springs of Tolhuaca, named after the volcano that you will see from close up. Here you will be able to take a relaxing bath in the hot water before you return to your hotel. (B,BL,D)

Day 3: Conguillío National Park
Enjoy your breakfast before you are brought to the Conguillío National Park, the most beautiful park in the region, located on the slopes of the Llaima Volcano. You will drive through the wonderful scenery of the park and make short stops at the Laguna Captrén, visitor information center and Laguna Conguillío to enjoy the beauty of the park; in the southern part you will visit Laguna Arcoiris and the Laguna Verde and then return 5 km / 3 mi in northern direction to Playa Linda. The trail "Sierra Nevada" starts here, a 2 ½-hour hike through various types of woods beneath the towering Llaima Volcano which you will participate in.(B,BL,D)

Day 4: Malacahuello - Temuco
Today you will have to leave the natural wonders of Curacautín and return to Temuco after a final visit to the waterfall Salto del Indio. (B) CONGUILLO AND TOLHUACA NATIONAL PARKS (4 days / 3 nights)
