FARM STAY AT FUNDO BUENOS AIRES (3 days, 2 nights)

Located 50 kilometers / 32 miles west of the city of Temuco between Nuevo Imperial and Carahue, the ranch Fundo Buenos Aires is an traditional Chilean family-run farm. The Fundo has 1.200 hectares / 3,000 acres of land and offers a very pleasant country atmosphere with lots of beautiful trails, gardens, a nice swimming pool and exciting riding programs. The facilities are comfortable and the country-style food is delicious. Your host will be Anne Schurch of Swiss descent, the well-known animal and nature lover, known in Chile as one of the best horse trainers in the "Doma Racional", an alternative method of training horses.

Day 1: Temuco - Lago Budi - Fundo Buenos Aires
You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport in Temuco and transferred to Puerto Saavedra and the Lake Budi on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. The fantastic landscape of the Lake Budi with its islands and peninsulas is perfect for small hikes. Weather permitting, you will be able to see black-necked swans, after which a typical dish will be awaiting you in the restaurant of the "Hosterķa Boca Budi" for lunch. The afternoon is at leisure, you can relax by the pool of the Fundo, explore the grounds or help with every-day chores on the farm to experience real rural living. In the evening you will be

able to enjoy traditional spitroasted meat, followed by a slide show at the Fundo. Overnight at the guest house of the Fundo. (L,D)

Day 2: Meet the Mapuche Culture
Today you will learn more about the indigenous culture of the Mapuche and leave the farm for Chol-Chol; there you will have a typical lunch in a Ruka - a Mapuche home - built more than 50 years ago, belonging to the Lilche community. In the Mapuche village you will have plenty of opportunities to learn about various other aspects of this culture. After your return to the Fundo Buenos Aires you will be offered tea and cake in the familial atmosphere of the farm. Overnight at the guest house of the Fundo. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Fundo Buenos Aires - Temuco
After breakfast you will be able to choose whether you prefer to go out on horseback or go hiking around the environs of the Fundo. Fantastic views of the Andes and a scenic landscape will await you. A final lunch at the Fundo will be served before you are transferred to Temuco Airport in time for your continuing program/flights. (B,L)
