Day 1: Temuco - Curacautín
You will be picked up from your
hotel or the airport in a comfortable
mini bus and driven to the
region of Curacautín, north-east
of Temuco. Enjoy views of the
waterfall Salto del Indio before
you arrive at your hotel. You will
have time to explore the surroundings
in the afternoon. (D)
Day 2: Navidad Crater
Formed during an eruption of the
Lonquimay Volcano December
25, 1988, the crater Navidad
("Christmas") is an ideal destination
for hikes. You will start your
day after breakfast with a drive to
the ski center Corralco, situated at
1,600 m / 5,250 ft on the slopes
of the Lonquimay. From there it is
a 2-hour walk on black volcanic
sand to the crater. Afterwards,
you can take a well-deserved,
relaxing bath in the recently
opened Malalcahuello Hot
Springs. (B,BL,D)
Day 3: Horseback Riding
in Lonquimay
After the trek on the previous day,
you will be able to relax today
and let a horse do the walking for
you. First you will pass the Cuesta
las Raíces with its magnificent
views on your way to Lonquimay
to visit the goat's cheese factory
of Socapril, where you will be
shown around the grounds. Our
horse-back tour will lead us
through the beautiful surroundings
of the village Sierra Nevada
on tame and easy- going Chilean
horses. A local huaso (cowboy)
will show us how to handle the
horses and guide us through various
types of forest to impressive
view points on hills and mountains
in the region. (B,BL,D)
Day 4: Conguillío
National Park
Discover today one of the most
beautiful and best preserved
national parks in Chile. With its
ancient (600-1,200 years of age)
Monkey Puzzle trees and various
other tree species, Llaima Volcano
and various lakes, you will be
able to delight in spectacular
views and attractions all along
the way. You will drive directly

from the Suizandina to the park
and cross it; on various stops you
will visit the Laguna Captrén, the
Visitor's Center, the Conguillío
lagoon, the Arcoiris and Verde
lagoons in the southern section of
the park. You will leave the vehicle
behind at Playa Linda for a
2½ hour hike beneath the Llaima
Volcano on the "Sierra Nevada"
trail. (B,BL,D)
Day 5: Lake Gualletue
National Reserve &
Mapuche Culture
After breakfast you will say
farewell to La Suizandina and hit
the road for Icalma on the border
with Argentina in the Lago Gualletue
National Reserve. You will
first drive through the longest
South American tunnel before you
ascend the La Fusta pass. Shortly
after arriving at the national
reserve, you will pass by the Lake
Gualletue from where the wellknown
Bío Bío River originates.
The typical woods of Southern
beech tree are mostly inhabited
by indigenous Mapuche and
Pehuenche. You will be able to
visit a local family to learn about
the modern-day life of this native
population. You will stay overnight
in cabañas close to Icalma.

Day 6: Rafting on the
Allipén River - Trailanquí
After a drive to Melipeuco and
the Río Allipén, you will exchange
the vehicle for a raft and enjoy an
exciting whitewater rafting trip
(grade 3) on the Río Allipén.
Afterwards you will continue on
to the country-style Hotel-Resort
Trailanquí where you will be able
to participate in a wide variety of
activities on the grounds or in the
beautiful natural surroundings. A
heated pool, golf course, mini
zoo and tennis courts are some of
the facilities available for your

Day 7: Trailanquí - Temuco
After breakfast and in due time
you will be transferred to Temuco
airport. (B)
